The Private Pilot course is the entry-level training for all pilots and forms the foundation for all the professional pilot certifications.  By receiving your Private Pilots certificate you will have proven a mastery of the airmanship, navigation, and communication fundamentals.  Private Pilots can fly almost anywhere under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) while taking passengers along for the ride.

Eligibility Requirements for Private Pilot Certificate

  • 17 years of age

  • Third-Class Medical Certificate


FAA Minimum Requirements for Private Pilot Certificate

 

40 flight hours, including:

20 hours dual instruction, including:

  • 3 hours cross-country training

  • 3 hours instrument training

  • 3 hours night flying practice

10 hours solo flight, including:

  • 5 hours cross-country, with one flight of at least 150 nautical miles.

Successful completion of the FAA Private Pilot knowledge and practical Exams.
